  Simply put, VU, along with some proto-punk bands from their era, created punk. They also created indie/alternative, and their influence can be felt in almost every band after 1970. They are also very underrated and not very known. Oh, and "Squeeze" sucks balls.

  lol Squeeze is absolutely atrocious. I feel sorry for the original members of the group having to deal with Squeeze being released under the VU name. Kind of a travesty really. And that's just on it's own merits. It's quality drops even more into the dumps when you put it up to the four albums with Lou at the helm.

  'Squeeze' is a good album. I don't care if it doesn't sound like Velvet Underground. Although the other 4 albums are considerably better. 'Squeeze' is like listening to 'Cool it Down' ten times over, and that's good. Doug just seems like a bunch of fun. 'Squeeze' is also miles better than most of Reid's solo work, 'The Bells' is unbearable.
