favorite vu albums

 
  • I really like "The Velvet Underground", "The Velvet Underground and Nico" and "White Light/White Heat" equally. "Loaded" has some good songs too, but I hate "Squeeze", I heard it once and I'll never give this album another chance!

    I love anything except "Squeeze", but "White Light/White Heat" has always a special place in my heart... it taught me what attitude is! I started recordin' my stuff right after listening to that masterpiece!

  • Tops for me has to The VU & Nico. That's probably my favorite album from any artist, ever. After that it's more difficult to differentiate because they're all so good but I guess the self-titled album barely edges out White Light / White Heat with Loaded coming after those two.

    I find Loaded to be a definite classic record, but my love for it is slightly lessened by the fact that Lou didn't have lead vocals on all the songs. Doug Yule is fine and all but he just doesn't come close to the legend that is Lou Reed. Songs like Who Loves the Sun or Oh! Sweet Nuthin would've been even more amazing with him singing.

    (Oh and Squeeze shouldn't even be considered in the VU's canonical history. Whether it be because of it's total lack of a single good song or it's lack of involvement from any of the original members.)

    I think I like & Nico and Loaded slightly more than White Light and the self-titled one. That's all I can say, really.
