Discussion group for the Japanese techno-punk outfit 'the mad capsule markets'

The Mad Capsule Markets are a Japanese band who combine heavy guitars with hard programmed beats, as well as many experimental electronica elements, reggae, and pop-influenced punk.

Although they have released many albums in Japan, it has been their recent albums Osc-Dis (Oscillator in Distortion) and 010 which have brought them success in the West.

The lyrical style, while quite often so distorted you cannot hear the exact words, mixes English and Japanese language, often in the same song.

From 1990-2004 TMCM were signed to JVC Victor Japanese Record Label until recently (2005) moving to Sonys Japanese Label.

The band has also had their music heavily featured in popular anime trailers released by Manga.

The band consists of (as of their 2003 release, 010) Kyono (vocals), Takeshi Ueda (Bass, Synthesiser, programming, vocal) Motokatsu Miyagami (Drums, Programming) and Toru XXX (support guitar, non-permenant member, been with TMCM since DIGIDOGHEADLOCK in 1997, other band - Undown).

As of March 31st 2006, the band announced they are taking time off from working together so that they can pursue their own personal projects. Kyono is DJ'ing round Japan and getting his clothing line together, Motokatsu is drumming for a band called Rally and Takeshi is possibly working on solo material and his own clothing line as well.

Could this be the end of TMCM? Time will tell, but you can be sure the mad style will live on regardless!!

i feel like i will now have to take the 6 best songs off both Wagdug and AA= and call it the unofficial 12th album. i enjoy listening to the new stuff, but i cant help but think how much these guys would have complimented each others approach if they had been working together...

Wagdug FU is full on madness. awesome stuff. The music scene is getting worse by the day, we need MCM back to inject a touch of pure Insanity back into it.
