    Cassette Tape Labels

i've been doing a fair amount of recording lately and think i might attempt to release my crap through a tape label. anyone know of some labels that accept demos? preferably noise/drone related.

  • there is no point on doing it on most labels, they're all editions of 30-100 any ways, do it yourself and save the time, and get as much out of it.

i doubt i'll get anything out of it, but i suppose that is the way to go. i can order 50 cassettes for about $0.40 a piece and then give them away, because i'm already aware that no one will buy them.

any suggestions on where to buy bulk cassettes for cheap?

  • google search Crown Magnetics. You have to physically call them, but you can't beat those prices.

    Release on a label

Even if most tape labels, especially independent, do only do limited releases, if you want to get the most out of a release, give it to a label. Independent labels strive off of promoting their stuff and selling it for very cheap or trading it, which will make sure more people will end up listening to what you make all over than if you just made a bunch of tapes and gave them to people you know. You still won't see any money, but at least it might spread the word some.

  • yeah, but it's not very hard to do all that shit your self
there's only a handful of major distributors, and it's easy to pin-point most of the blogs/forums for this community and promoting/selling your stuff on them is very easy.
not to mention the best means of promoting your cassettes/self is by shows, and form what I've seen most labels don't do much show organizing.

I mean I like labels too because some one else does work for you, but you can do the same thing on your own at the same time. (and possibly have a bit more passion about it)

This is probably far too late but Night People do quite a few tape releases around the genres you mentioned.
