Slayer and Metallica are a half of Thrash Metal Big Four. Both play(ed) interesting music, but Metallica sold out and became pop star, while Slayer remained faithful to his fans. It's the only objective reason, why Slayer is better.

Czajnik_69 Slayer won't be as popular as Metallica simply because they kept playing it "fast, loud and rude" quoting after mr Mustaine. Metallica appeals to a broader group of listeners because of their diverse style ranging from thrash metal to shit for the masses (or whoever likes Lulu or other crap)
