  True! This type of music deserves it's own name. All these artists (which are the genre I love) are getting put under all different categories. It makes it really hard to find them! If they had their own genre thing it would be way easier to find artists I love. Also BTW there's enough artist like this to have their own genre, and they definitely have enough AWESOMENESS!!!!

  Johnnycool and partysanctg are right, power pop already existed...and it was GUITAR based music derived from 60s British invasion and Garage Rock. Nothing to do with this. Looks to me like another genre term has bitten the dust and been hijacked and reapplied to unrelated music. Power pop now joins the company of electropop/synthpop and hardcore (formerly a punk term now being used for metal), and maybe even emo. I wonder which name they'll steal next.

  This isn't power pop. Please, PLEASE stop calling it that. Power pop's been around for decades, and it really has nothing to do with this stuff. Big Star, Badfinger, Raspberries, Teenage Fanclub, The Posies...that's power pop.
