I like the Wonder Ballroom a lot. Hawthorne Theater is pretty good. Crystal is kind of irritating.

  • I tend to visit the doug fir, holocene and rotture most... doug firs pretty loungey... is that even a word? Holocenes a great up close venue and I've only been to the rotture a few times

    KEEP THE WET DREAMS ALIVE!!!
  • The sound system at Roseland makes me want to cry...

  • Satyricon, though its now gone... :(
I only know minor-friendly venues, but here goes. The Roseland isn't a great venue as venues go but it has lots of big name shows, Hawthorne Theater is great since it's usually all ages and puts on quality shows, Branx has most of the all ages shows that used to be at Satyricon (lots of metal these days), the Crystal Ballroom is definitely very nice, Backspace is a small but hip all ages spot downtown that often has good music, and that's about all of the All Ages venues I can think of right now. I haven't been to the Wonder Ballroom yet, but I'll report back after the Amon Amarth show April 19th!

    ...and then I lol'd.
  • Any fucking basement will do just fine.

  • the Doug Fir and Mississippi Studios tie for my favorite venues in town. Small enough to feel intimate in the right setting, but also large enough to get loud and lifted when its the right thing to do.

A close contender is The Woods -- a re-purposed funeral home down in Sellwood -- now with ping pong tables.

I've seen some a-mazing bands (of both the well known & local varieties) & unforgettable moments at each of these venues.
