This is a proposed idea to the last.fm administration. The idea is to display the tags for artists/bands by percentage. For example: 92% hard rock, 6% rock, 2% metal.

This is a proposed idea to the last.fm administration. The idea is to display the tags for artists/bands by percentage. For example: 92% hard rock, 6% rock, 2% metal.

It would be a compromise between the tag clouds that were on the homepage in the old last.fm interface and the new 'tag line' used now. Some people used to consider the tag cloud as some sort of guidance as to how this band/artist sounds like. The new last.fm interface only shows a line in which the most popular tags are used. This line does not indicate how much more a tag is popular than the other. Percentage tagging would give a better indication.

One pie chart for genres and another for country. Personnal tags would be ignored for charts.

definitely NOT a good idea. this would create even more confusion with fusion genres. also language/country tags would completly destroy everything.

it's a very good idea but first the tags should be fixed: all silly and nonsense tags should be removed

Without doubt ... should enhance this idea. Thus, it increases the similarities of the bands. Go get from the influences of the band that is being heard at that time.
