All of the obvious choices aside, and as much as this has turned into a genre hating thread rather than most hated band, I would have to agree with the OP. Tool. I used to listen to them when I was a bit younger, and over time I've found so many other great bands in the progressive family that I enjoy way more stylistically. And what really irritates me are Tool fanatics, and how tend to think their band invented progressive music, polyrhythms, and time signatures other than 4/4. I get so sick of hearing "they sound like Tool", when a band sounds nothing like them.
