You know you're an otaku when...

AnimeSugoi says you know you're an otaku when...

You think the "three holy places of Japan to be Akiba of Tokyo, Nipponbashi of Osaka, and Oosu of Nagoya" - Patricia Martin

You say "kawaii" whenever you see anything cute.

You burn with passion when talking about anime, manga, games, doujin, idols, and other otaku related goodness.

You automatically think Tsukasa looks like Hiiragi from To Heart the first time you see her.

You automatically think of ero games when you see images like this.

You go out to buy a food item you've seen on anime.

You meticulously plan out where to go during an anime convention to get the best and limited items from dealers.

You are super excited when your postcard/fan art is published in a popular magazine, like Newtype.

Rather than doing your homework/work, you play games, read manga, go online, etc.

Your room is full of otaku stuff like posters, figures, and manga that you read once/buy to have it and leave it around your room.

You know the song/dance of Hare Hare Yukai from Melancholy of Haruhi or Motteke Sailor Fuku from Lucky Star by memory.

You go outside and cosplay in public.

    Pictures from Lucky Star ^-^

When you sing along to J-pop when you don't even know what the words mean! ^_^

Computers refuse to understand how I am feeling today.

You're an otaku when you have a huge anime and manga related collection at home and tend to nickname your friends after your favorite characters.

  • You're an otaku when you can sing Motteke! Sailor Fuku (or some other insane fast song like Miko Miko Nurse, which is near impossible) =D

You're an otaku when you start thinking of anime situations all the time, and you start almost expecting something weird or crazy to happen to you.

I've had melon bread before, because of Yakitate!! Japan, and I am now addicted (However, I am about 3 hours away from the only source I know of >_>) I ate a cream puff Lucky Star Miyuki style, just because I could XD
(I just realized that one of the manga in the image with Konata's manga all stacked up is Karin (or Chibi Vampire). Ahhh, Konata, so much fanservice XD)

  • nonsense.

When you suddenly understand (most of) Raw's without ever studying Japanese or having sources for Japanese other than manga/anime.

When "Ohayo" no longer is a state in the US.

when you automatically think of 300 yen is small change.

When you don't bother to look for a western style toilet anymore.

when you open a normal book at the right side without noticing.

when you start reading normal/american comics at the right side.

I understood when my friends began to espace from me. That moment with some crazy mimics I was telling them something about One Piece. Of course it didn't change anything, I've continued like that. ^^

    Meh!
  • You say ITADAKIMASU before you eat.
You’re writing the names of people you hate in a black notebook.
You start listening to Japanese bands from openings or endings of you fav anime.

"Did you know that Shinigami only eat Apples?"
  • I just ticked off 12 of the above.... Oh crap! :-)

I'd add "You start learning Japanese so you don't have to put up with bad fan-subbing"

You're an otaku the moment you realise you're attracted to 2D women.

You're an otaku when you have an "Anime music" playlist in your music player, for sure.

Ah well, there are much worse things to be. :)

  • * You future career is somehow close Japanese (pop)culture

    Food
    * You eat noodles, rice, etc with chopsticks (only.....what's spoon or fork?)
    * You started to eat and make Japanese cuisine (such as sushi or tamago's)
    * Did I hear you often visit Asian foodstores o____O (but there's the bestest foodstuffs and kitchen stuff)
    * Sake was your first alcohol which you have buy/drank

    Others
    * You use following words:"Baka, kawaii, itadakimasu, tadaima" and so on....they usually are short words
    * Other musics than Asian ones are lame (gamemusic is different thing!)
    * Must---to----buy---somehow and somwhere-----kotatsu!!

    * Started to mimic your favorite character (I thinks this won't go under normal otaku-title >__O but for us it goes)

    okay, there's lots of these....

Um.. I have made Japanese food
my father owns a restaurant that has sushi.
I learn Japanese, I have done it with a private teacher for 3-4 years.
    I watch anime basically daily.
I have a figurine and a manga collection.
I play video games and collect them.
I play Yugioh TCG almost every week or so in a gaming shop.
I always carry something anime-related with me.

  • When you read the posts and say to your self, "Yep that is me described in a nut shell.

  • Well the most crazy is, when you start to swear i japanese. for me are words such as "mataku", "kso" or "baka" really frequent. The most fun is, that nobody exept other otaku understands.
    @ DeltaSR388: You are damn right :-D

    Omnis vitae supplicium est.
