sure it is haha. but not all hip hop is progressively lyrical. ying yang twins vs saigon. there should be a name for the rap that isnt concerned with what non hip hop heads would call song-writing, and one for the kind of rap that is concerned with song-writing.

hiphop in itself is lyrical, so what other name do you need...

why isnt there a name for good lyrical hip-hop? a real official name. the closest i can get is east coast, but not ALL the tight lyricists come from the East.

Yep I know. Same with me - I just took way too much on my shoulders, hope you understand :) But like I said - I'll try to keep it up.

Fair enough man, it's a great group but I don't have the time or expertise to run anything like this to be honest and I'm guessing it's roughly the same for most people.

Oh well, just like I posted below. I got too much work going on right now. When I started this group I thought it will grow and soon or later members will become a part of it. So far nothing really happened. Besides a few people who suggested some stuff from time 2 time, I'm all by myself. Eh, but I'll try to keep it alive as long as I can anyways.

Hmm, I don't know if making sections about both, modern AND classic CD of the week wasn't too much... well it is now. I'm thinking about making it's just a "NY CD of the week". Without help I just won't keep it up, I got too much stuff going on nowadays.

... no way that glory days are over but there are so many changes in hip hop in last 20 years and its just hard to follow ... but there are so many good artists only their style is different ... xD

Really the problem's R'n'B not rap, it's influencing too many artists, and the mainstream wayyyy too much

hehe that was pretty much the point i was trying to get across

well to a certain degree i guess i agree with both of you...Aevitasm is right to say that there are still some fresh real albums from real mc's coming out....but sheik1 has a point in saying too many other's are trying to become "business men" rather than ripping sh*t...maybe that's the problem with hip hop in general..imo the commercial side and the REAL side are now 2 entities and it can be sad when great mc's cross over to make cash with commercial pop artists then cross back over again and still expect respect.....................

hey all i said was that the glory days are over.. and as far as i can see.. you kinda agree with me. there still is good hiphop in the making, but it probably wont be much compared to 89 - 95. it just fucks me up to see raekwon make a track with justin bieber ya know..

there's just too many cats wanting to be p. diddy instead of biggie, if you know what i mean. they want to make a couple bucks, get their heads on ya box of cereals, start a clothing line, be in an ad for some fucking shampoo brand... so called business men. instead of just grabbing the mic and destroying the shit out of it. i wont deny there's still some guys making stupid frehs albums... but you know as good as me that the new wu album wont be shit compared to enter the 36 chambers.
