This group deals with the genre mittelalter-rock (German for medieval rock) that was developed in the early 1990s in Germany.

This group is only about mittelalter-rock (medieval rock), not about medieval folk music or acoustic medieval market music.

In Mittelalter-Rock (medieval rock) the musicians combine music, musical themes and lyrics that are inspired by old medieval folk music with modern rock music. They make use of rock instruments like e-guitar, bass and drums or electronic elements on the one hand and on the other hand bagpipes, harp, hurdy gurdy, shawn or flutes.

The genre can be compared to folk metal but the roots are more classic rock music than metal music.
