  Keyboards in metal is awesome. So many metalheads believe keyboards are for wimps. Let me just let you know something, Black Sabbath, the pioneers of Metal, used keyboards throughout their career.... so, there! If they used them, then it's alright! Besides, if you want some kick ass keyboard solos then listen to Fairyland's Score to a New Beginning. The keyboard solos are magical.

  I'm essentially a progster, but I will listen to any form of (real) metal as long as it 1) includes more instruments than only guitars ("guitars" includes bass, of course :P) and drums (keyboards being the most obvious choice, of course; some sort of keyboard instrument should preferrably be present, be it piano, harpsichord, Hammond organ, etc.), 2) includes clean vocals, or 3) is at least somewhat melodic, preferrably all three. I need melody and variety! And I love 80s style keyboards. :D

  If you're looking for good keyboard solos, check out Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius and Children of Bodom. Plenty of others, but those are three of the best to start with I reckon.
