  I love Gene as well since hearing their songs six years ago or so. Great band, very potent songs, they were less 'Britpop' despite being part of the Britpop movement in the early to mid 1990s, if one 'catches my drift'. Out of all the bands these guys were perhaps the most influenced by The Smiths/Morrissey and maybe the most poignant since of course the movement drew upon the formers work. Thank you.

  Yeah, I've met 2 (!) ppl in my life who would actually say "oh, Gene! I know them / I like them" in my life. And I've answered "Gene" when ppl have asked what kind of music I like ever since around 1995 when I got my first cd... It has been so difficult to even get hold of their cds here in Sweden. Thank god for the Internet... Glad to see some ppl here that LOVE Gene - at last!

  Gene was one of the best British bands of the 90's, I live in Michigan so was only able to see them in concert once back in 95 at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, It was a fantastic show. I wish they could have found a larger audience.

  i've never met a single person in real life who likes gene, and there are only 37 people out of the thousands on last.fm in this group, yet they are genuinely one of the most impressive bands i've ever heard. i don't understand! anyway, i guess i just wanted to say hi, even though this group seems a little dead.
