With roots in the Weimar republic era in pre-Nazi Germany, the essence of cabaret is frivolous debauchery told with dark sarcasm and wit. Classic artists are defined by Rozz Williams, Sex Gang Children, and Salon Betty. Modern muses include The Dresden Dolls, Nicki Jaine, and Jill Tracy.

I'm kinda surprised that Black Tape for a Blue Girl is not connected in this group. I'm pretty sure they consider themselves Dark Cabaret, and Nicki Jaine is a member of that group.
