Group which is gathering all people who are listening to Clann Zú's and similar artists' music.

We love Declan's voice - and whole Clann Zú's vibes.

Although Clann Zú don't exist anymore...



Clann Zú was an Australian/Irish band founded in Melbourne in 1999 by Benjamin Andrews (Electric Guitar), Russell Fawcus (Electric Violin, Keyboards) Declan De Barra (Vocals, Bodhrán) and Liam Andrews (Bass)
Declan was Clann Zú’s vocalist and bodhrán player. He’s also author of their videoclips.
He was born in Waterford in Ireland - he came to Australia in 1988 and became part of Australian underground music scene.
Declan was playing with couple band as guitarist and bassist until 1999 – year in which Clann Zú was formed.
Russel started to play violin when he was 4 years old, after hearing a performance of the Tchaikovsky violin concerto. When he was 8 y.o. he get a scholarship and started to study at one of Adelaide's musically aware schools – there he was playing saxophone and piano. At age 15 he started to study at Adelaide Conservatorium of Music (with best Australian musicans).
In 1998 he moved to Melbourne to study violin at the Victorian College of the Arts. After answering an announce he became part of Clann.
Benjamin was born in UK, after moving to Australia (as Declan) he was playing couple other bands (like „My Disco"). He is addicted to chocolate bourbon creams ; )
Liam was the bass guitar player of Clann Zú and Benjamin’s younger brother ; )
He’s playing with him in „My Disco”.


While beeing famous in Australia for their charismatic live shows, members of Clann Zú decided to produce their first EP (Extended Play - Clann Zú) – it was released in 2000 and met with glowing reviews (in Australia ; ))
Fans were forced to wait for „next” album over 3 years. First LP have seen light of a day at 9th September 2003 under name „Rua”. In my humble opinion „Rua” is greatest part of their whole creativity ...
"Black Coats & Bandages” is their last album (June 1st, 2004). Last but not least – many people are saying this to answer questions about this CD. Couple are even thinking to call it brilliant.

The End:

Unfortunatelly Clann Zú released the following statement, announcing their break-up, on their website in May 2005:

"Clann Zú regret to announce that it is no longer continuing to tour or record. Such is the life of a band. Benjamin and Liam will continue to tour and record with My Disco on the Crashing Jets label and Declan de Barra will continue with his own solo project."

And ... this is all. Great band with short and boring history...

    Hahaha I thought that it's so unique to be from Poland and listen to Clann Zu. Seems like I was wrong :D maybe we should ask them to play one more concert somewhere in Eastern Europe if there is so many fans here. What a pity that this band doesn't exist anymore...
