1. Aniceto & Campolino- "Segredo Da Tia Romana" and Bocadinho Só Aniceto & Campolino are perhaps the most important representatives of Partido Alto (informally called partidos) a type of samba characterized by improvisation, usually with songs divided into a static chorus/refrain (refrão), which is sang by everyone present in a samba performance, and the verses sung by one or more soloists who will be competing in some way, be it humorous or not.
2. Verequete- "Xô Perú" The grandfather of Lambada.A classic from the Amazon region and a good example of Carimbó rhythm. Carimbó was a loose and very sensual dance from the time Brazil was still a Portuguese colony, which involved only side to side movements and many spins and hip movement by the female dancer, who typically wore a rounded skirt. The music was mainly to the beat of Carimbó drums. Over time, the music absorbed rhythms from the Caribbean, and itself became the basis of some new rhythms and dances like the Sirimbó, the Lari Lari and the Lambada.
3. Vieira e Seu Conjunto- "Lambada Da Baleia" Mestre Vieira is one of the “mestres da música amazônica”, or "masters of Amazon music", playing a rhythm typical of the region called guitarrada, which is a fusion of choro (type of samba), carimbó, merengue e maxixe, with the guitar as the main performer. You can definitely hear the Caribbean influence.
4. Wilson Simonal- Na Tonga da Mironga do Kabuletê and "Telefone" Pleasant samba interpreted by one of Brazil's greatest singers who had a tragic history and remained forgotten until a recent documentary brought him back to light (posthumously).
5. Arnaud Rodrigues- "Sound & Pyla" A cool, 60's style jazz-y sambinha/bossa with sweet lyrics mixing English and Portuguese.
6. Patife Band- Corredor Polonês Just some fantastically weird Brazilian post-punk.
7. Tony Bizarro - Não Vai Mudar Brazilian funk/soul from the 70s.
