Huge Tag "oops no content" ???

I am a subsriber, my user tag has 70-100 tracks, albums & artists. But every time I try to play the tag, I get "oops no content" in the player.

    http://www.last.fm/user/mtce/library/tags?tag=bethany

This is a support request not a complaint.
    thanks

  • It's even doing it with average tags like band and genre tags

  • Do you get that error message in the software player? If yes, do you have discovery mode enabled by any chance?

I'm getting the same error for everything, and I don't have discovery mode enabled. I tried it with that enabled and disabled. Same problem

I use iScrobbler/Mac, but still there seems to be a problem with the radio server. The 89-item station I was listening to just stopped giving me an eror message of not enough content (after playing 9 tracks), that I need at least 15 tracks by different artists. I am now getting this error for all of my stations, including Recommendations and My Library (over 4800 artists).

We're suffering radio problems at the moment and are working on it.

    sorry.

It must be a very troublesome problem, if it's taking more than a month to solve. I'm sick of getting "no content" after every 6-7 songs. When will last.fm finally function 100%? I mean, the streaming is crappy, everywhere i click, there are still bugs...

    Same problem here

As I describe here, I'm having the same problem. "No content" errors, the same songs from the same artists being played again and again, etc. This is obviously not just a "radio problem", it's a much deeper architectural or algorithmical problem that needs some proper attention.

I've been having these problems for at least a year on 6 different computers with different operating systems, with both "Discovery mode" off and on, both before and after I became a paying subscriber. I had a faint hope that paying actually would help, but alas it didn't.

  • I've recently signed up as a label and uploaded an album from one of our artists. I too can not get anything but "Oops! No content" for any of my uploads. How are people supposed to listen to this when nothing will play?

    Very disappointed.

Well, im having the same problem here...

  • My player was going for about 3 hours before that happened... still it seems a bit strange that it should run out of songs even after 3 hours, which roughly works out to 60 songs... very strange.

Yeah, what the crap? I can't ever listen to anything because I always get that stupid oops message. I read about it in another thread, but I am clear of those "conditions," so I don't know what's up. Here's that thread:

    Same here.

I thought it was because I unloved the majority of my loved songs that I didn't intend to love and unbanned a song I never intended to keep banned. That was when I started using Last.FM and didn't know what I was doing and just testing things out. This left my loved and banned songs empty except for one song which suddenly turned into a 30sec preview. Can emptying the Loved list cause this problem? Should it?

Well, I have the Last.FM scrobbler in Songbird so I guess I should just go listen to music in Songbird, maybe that will build up the list again? I dunno. This is very frustrating.

    VERY FRUSTRATING! >:-(

  • pekmano, Viev:

What radio stations are you trying to listen to? If it's your own libraries, they don't have that much content yet, so you need to add more in order not to get that "oops, no content" message that easily. Try adding more artists, or listen to another radio station in the meantime, for example an artist or a genre one.

There's also more information about this here in our FAQ:

    - This thread was originally about something that has since been resolved, a few months ago now; Please look for other more recent, related threads, or open a new topic if there aren't any yet. I'll close this thread later one before it thrifts off topic too much.

    bb

"...for example an artist or a genre one."

Its not a solution. Im from Hungary and its strange to use the artist station. I put my favorite alternative band to it, and love-pop/national-hard rock/rap track played. Im afraid it needs some upgrades. But the no content....
So for now its ok. Yes Im listening to my library, but there are about 30 artists, so i dont understand why is that not enough. If all available tracks has been played, then play it again. Or I can listen to a song just once?

  • Please check the FAQ I linked for why that might happen.

    Lousy algorithm.

In my Client I can't disable the "Discovery mode" (ctrl-e) because the menu item is disabled. I suspect this to be part of the problem. If I select a station previously feeding me lots of music, I now hear 2-3 tunes before the bleeten message pops up. The tunes are new ones and I think's this indicates that the retention period mentioned by foreverautunm isn't the problem (how log is that period btw?).

So why can't I disable the "Discover mode"?

I'm beginning to get tired of the client (which also lacks a setting to determine whether the client should start if WinAmp does).

  • So, my friends and I are constructing a tag radio, it's been a couple months and I know for a fact there must be around 1,000 songs or more tagged as well as a couple artists and the thing still won't play.

See this other thread about that: http://www.last.fm/forum/21713/_/467554/1#f7550767
It works for subscribers, and SHOULD work for everyone.

Even after a week of not listening to that tag radio...

I checked out the FAQ. I understand the basics of it. By my radio won't play even after a week of not trying to play it, so the time limit thing is out, and also I have over 100 songs in the mix, so it should be enough content.
Other thing is, and I don't know if anyone else has tried this:
When I use the website to play the tag station it works fine...it's just the client that gives me the error...but I prefer using the client.
