If you want to play your playlist, without having to click play everytime, subscribe.

I did not know that the unsubscribers can even play the list?! So whats the difference betwen free and payed? And this topic excists for some days. Why does not any of the site support write here?! At least the can write that this is a problem and that they are working on it! I`ve posted some other topics and they are still with no answer...

  • It seems like usually they don't answer until they have some kind of solution. So if there has to be an update to the client they'll post when it's ready to be downloaded. But it would be nice to know a fix is being worked on. I feel weirdly handicapped not being able to listen to my playlist in the client.

I feel bad for non-subscribers. The playlists have been rendered useless for them.

And I don't understand the point of having the player on the profile page if you have to click on it to start each song. It's annoying having a useless player staring me in the face and then having to click three levels down to actually listen to music.

    But I digress.

  • thanks

...for cutting off the playlists for non-subscribers. thanks for showing me where my place is.
    >:(

...because strange is what we need...

I am new here and I did not know that before all users had the chance to listen their playlist. That`s very unhappy change :(

P.S. At least they could tell us, that they are working on the problem.

It's because of licensing agreements. Blame the record labels. They're too stupid to understand that people are more likely to buy music if they can listen to it first.

  • So is there any word on this? A fix in the works?

Just started my own thread about this, then found this thread and decided to join. :)

So, playlists are not working for me either. Hope to see a fix for this soon, since I very much prefer the client over the flash player.

  • Are you guys trying to say that non- subscribers can't listen their own Playlists anymore ? :0

I meen never.. that it's not just some bug or something?

Well, I can understand if it doesnt work, but I would really appreciate an answer from the crew on this.

    Essentially, no.

Technically, yes. You can still listen to available full tracks by hitting the play button in between each track, but if you add a 30 second preview to your playlist, that's all that will play -- the 30 second preview.

In other words, playlists still exist for non-subscribers, but they're not particularly useful.

  • Just seen this.

I'm having the same problem and it's more than frustrating. C'mon LastFM, sort it out! Being able to listen to my playlist while stuck at a desk job is the only reason I subscribe... and I've just signed up for 12 more months. Am I going to be refunded if the service I signed up and paid for for no longer works?

Oh, and dankine? Subscribing doesn't seem to get you much these days. Dammit, etc.

I've been wondering about this too. The main reason for me to subscribe in the first place was the ability to play everything with the client, and now the playlists don't work. Apparently the embedded flash player doesn't work either, so some kind of compensation for subscribers would be nice.

Okay.. that sucks... a lot IMO =D

The best part of Last.fm is not "useful" anymore :<

  • Last FM support have checked the problem through logging in on my account, and tell me that it's a connection issue on my end.

Can that apply to all of us?

What? How can that be when everything worked fine before the upgrade, but not after it? Nothing has changed in my internet connection/firewall/antivirus program since the upgrade, and this problem applies both to my home and workplace computers.

If it is a problem at my end, how am I supposed to fix it, because I've got no idea?

edit: Besides, all the other stations work with the client (including the loved tracks station), so the connection issue makes even less sense. I'll still try to fiddle with the firewall/av settings when I get home. LeislVonTrapp, did you get the playlists to work?

Yeah, that doesnt seem to make ANY sense.

Im a bit dissapointed with last.fm in this, but, I sure hope they are working on it.

Oh, this is a known issue, I didnt see it at first when I read it.

My apologies, hope you find a solution soon. :)

  • It was a known issue with the beta. I would have thought they'd make sure they had it solved before going live, because it's a big one.

$3 for a month. So you pay about 10 cent a day to use last.fm... So if the service isn't working for a week they obviously owe you 70cent... Do you really want compensation? :/

  • I don't think it's ok for LastFm to charge for something that doesn't work, no matter how small the fee. I realise there are bugs with every new system that need ironing out, but that's what Beta is for. And yes, it is a known issue with Beta, so I would have thought it would have been sorted before it was launched without an alternative.

I find that the Playlist works in-page from Mozilla on my home PC (well, it works to the extent the playlists always worked... ignoring some supposedly streamable tracks whilst replaying others) but not from IE on my work PC. It won't work on the LastFM software at all.

Hey, I wouldn't be half cranky if a staff member just said, "Yeah, we're getting to it." The service not working for a week would be bearable. The service not working for God knows how long would make me very growly indeed.

Actually, I was thinking more in the lines of extending the subscription for free for a couple of days. ;)

The support answered me. I will quote it here:
We do indeed have problems with the new website and the client software, which
are currently being worked on. We suggest you use the flashplayer in the
meantime and keep an eye on these two threads:
    http://www.last.fm/forum/21713/_/433934
    http://www.last.fm/forum/21713/_/434765

    Regards,
    The Last.fm Support Team

And here is a quote from one of the links

    Playlists

    * Playlists are limited to 200 tracks each now. If an older playlist had more tracks than this, only 200 of them are currently displayed (we working on a solution to these large playlist issues).
    * Playlist stations (that subscribers can listen to) currently play only 30 second previews in the software player.

I hope, that they solwe it fast :)

  • That would be great if the flashplayer worked too...

I guess I'll just have to hum to myself :(
