iPod Scrobbling Error - No iPod Library Found

  • iPod Scrobbling Error - No iPod Library Found

Scrobbling from my iPod is not working correctly. I'm getting the following error every time my iPod is plugged in and syncs with iTunes:

"iPod Scrobbling Error: No iPod Library Found"

I have a more unique iPod setup than most:

    - My iPod is manually managed
    - I sync the music on my Mac
    - I sync podcasts on my Vista laptop
    - I listen to music on my iPod through my work PC all day

I have Last.fm installed on all of these machines but I only enable iPod scrobbling on the laptop (I dock the iPod to the laptop nightly). The scrobbling does sometimes work, but it's strange. It didn't work for the past week and then all of a sudden this morning when I plugged it in it prompted me to scrobble 250 or so tracks dating back over the past 5 days. But it was still missing some tracks. Those tracks scrobbled fine but since this morning I've been trying to run tests to determine the cause but just can't get it to work. I have the latest iTunes and Last.fm software loaded on all computers.

Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

    1) Turn On - "Disk usage".
Now you can see iPod like a disk.
    2) Open it.
    3) go to iPod_Controls/iTunes
    (hidden files must be showed)
    (my url to this /media/iPod/iPod_Control/iTunes)

And look for iTunesDB, iTunesControl files.
If files not exists, I recommend reinstall firmware :)

The files are there and both are of pretty large size. Any other ideas? I'd like to avoid reformatting the iPod but I guess it's on the table as a last resort if anyone thinks it may help.

  • Now today I fire up my Mac and Last.fm prompts me to scrobble 273 tracks that I already scrobbled a month ago. It makes no sense.

Maybe I've figured this out... do you have to do your iPod scrobbling on the same machine you sync with your music library?

I have the same problem. I think it has to do with the fact that your ipod is being used on a mac and windows platform. Is your ipod mac formatted or pc formatted? If you try scrobbling on the platform it's not formatted for, that's when the error appears. That's what I've noticed in my experience.

When you plug in your ipod lately, does it show up on iTunes? For you specifically, does it show up on all 3 computers in iTunes?
