I definitely appreciate the new real-time functionality. The data is the main, or perhaps only, reason why I use the site. I couldn't care less about the radio, playlists, or whatever. The new version of the site seems to improve access to the data that I want, so I'm generally pleased with the redesign.

Well yeah, the weeklies are delayed, they mentioned that in known issues. That ain't unusual in any sense for last.fm to have delayed static chart generation. In the meantime the real time stuff is working a treat :D

I didn't like when the layout changed the first time, years ago, but I got used to it. In the end I even thought it was nice. But this new one, wth? I logged in on my Ipod Touch a few days ago and thought it was a special mobile version. I remember that at the time the "Bring back the old last.fm" group barely reached a thousand users after many weeks.

The new layout is really really utterly ugly, confusing and annoying. The player thingy on user profiles is horrible. Graphical features are completely disconnected, look at the home page: red, gray and blue, what a great match! What's the deal with those tabs and resulting empty space on the left side? you're wasting my screen space. "Painted" backgrounds are out since 1999, when everyone became a Photoshop user. Even the gradient backgrounds on some boxes are "solarized", a sign that someone there in the back doesn't know what they're doing. Build.last.fm looks like a school project, and where's the site's visual identity?

Come on, it was a good joke, now give us Last.fm back.

seriously, last.fm. i only found this site a couple of months back and i loved how it was music, just music and more music and new music. it was so easy to find new music i could do it with my eye closed. i dont have a myspace or any equivalent because i dont want to talk to people i can talk to other places, i want to expand my music. the new layout is crap for several reasons, and theyre the same reasons everyone whos complained has for disliking this new layout.
1 wheres the reply?
2 wheres the 'paint it black?
3 why is the shoutbox so big?
4 what the hell is that flash music player doing on my 'home' page"

Last.fm used to be my favourite music site. I checked my "profile" every day. I loved the charts, the design, the recommendation system -- everything. Now I'm _forcing_ myself to visit the site every day -- and why? Because it's really damn ugly and hard to look at. It's not a matter of getting USED to the design -- it violates some very basic principles of web design. I mean, whose idea was it to make the entire page white with gray tables and other soft colors? The only distinct colours are the remaining reds at the top of the page, which don't really do much good since the navigation sucks to begin with. It used to be straightforward, concise and easy to look at. Now it gives me a migraine and it all just...blends together. Even the "recently played tracks" chart is a big blur -- there's no definition between the list of tracks, just black on white followed by a <p> drop... ugh. TERRIBLE design, last.fm -- and if there isn't an option to revert back to the old design soon, I won't be coming back. It's not a threat and I'm not assuming you really give a damn one way or another about one user, but I think you'll find many thousands of people like myself feel the same. The site's horrendous re-design is being discussed on external music-related sites, and the general consensus is that the new design is laughably poor and overzealous. You're not a social networking tool like Facebook, but at least Facebook's layout is fucking clear and easy to look at. Sickening, really, to see such a brilliant site turn into a big piece of amateurish shit.

last fm has now become the biggest joke on the web. its that bad that it isnt funny any more. i for one will be leaving very soon if nothing changes. the moderators need sacking as they havnt a clue on how to handle critisism either
