Someone should remove the "Animated gifs are currently not supported." note in the profile edit though.
As I'm changing my ava on a daily basis now (teehee) I'm always kinda like "Woaaah, not again!" lol

What's strange is that in my King Crimson group, the regular avatar is never animated and has a black background. However, the reduced size, such as used for group radio, usually is both animated and with transparency.

Geez, doesn't anyone here have some public domain code they can send to these guys, since they're obviously incapable of fixing it?

I visit many sites, both big and small, and I've never come across this issue on any other site. It can't be that difficult.

And mind you, one of the admins admitted embarrassment over the issue back in December, and promised to push the issue and get it fixed in a very short time. It's now March, about three months later.

They can't fix the weird timeline issues (when you load your page and see your Recently Listened tracks displayed as "in 2 hours", etc) or the constipated submissions (when your scrobbles get trapped in the software for hours at a stretch) so the animation issue isn't high priority.

High priority? Look at the date of the first message in this thread, which long predated the controversial update to the site.

It's not even a low priority!

Ironically, I was recently warned about an animated avatar on a site the other day, because I neglected to read the rules when joining. But despite it being against the rules, not only did the animation work perfectly, so did the transparency!

So even sites that don't want it seem to have no problem in this area.

The examples I posted above were uploaded yesterday.

OTOH, the Atlanta Braves avatar, linked in my sig, shows a black background for the large image, but a transparent image for Group Radio. That's an upload from before the "fix", but considering the "fix" made my King Crimson avatar worse, I'm reluctant to upload a new image there.
