Port Fairy Folk Festival

The next festival is on the Labour Day long-weekend over March 9 – 12, 2012.

Port Fairy is the charming historic sea-side village found on the beautiful south-west coast of Victoria. The independent, community run, ”folk, roots and beyond” music festival presents major international and national artists over a huge four day festival. Twenty venues in The Arena and around the village are host to concerts, theme concerts, jams, workshops, classes, talks, dancing, comedy and more. The festival starts at 5pm on Friday and finishes at 1pm Monday.

INTERNATIONAL ACTS & NATIONAL ACTS: The festival features usually 20 International Acts plus another 60 main program acts PLUS Hosts, Childrens, Street INvaderS, workshoppers and frINge acts – up to 135 in total and over 450 artists giving almost 500 performances

DIVERSE PROGRAM: The diverse program covers a diverse range of music plus a a children’s program: “The Folk Circus”; street performers – Street INvaderS; fringe venues – “The frINge” and music sessions such as “Fiddles on Fire”.

THE VENUES: Almost all the venues – all with great sound production – are undercover at this all-weather creature-comforts-included festival. A great selection of quality catering is on hand, lots of coffee and The Shebeen is the licensed venue you need to share a rave about the latest highlights over “just one for now”. For most of the day you will need your own “festival chair” (the lowest legs one is required) to take along to the marquee venues.
