On their previous recordings, "20,000 Ghosts" and "Wellwisher," The Rocketboys perfectly married themes of unity and brotherhood with rich, soaring rock, lifting the band to national critical acclaim. The band supported its releases with lengthy tours and multiple festival appearances but inevitably the rigors of the road took their toll, eventually rupturing the band's momentum in the winter of 2010-11. Three members of the sextet of college friends from Abilene, Texas left to focus on other endeavors, and the split nearly ended the band.

The resulting hiatus did have its upside, allowing front-man Brandon Kinder a window both to release a solo EP (under the name "The Wealthy West") and to pen the theme song for The Discovery Channel's new hit show "Bering Sea Gold." However, in the end, the three remaining members (Kinder, keyboardist Justin Wiseman, and bassist Josh Campbell) agreed they weren't at peace letting The Rocketboys cease to exist. The initial hurdles of rebuilding, though difficult and disheartening, began to give way to new-found inspiration. Though the song-writing process drastically changed as a result of the reduced lineup, with less cooks in the kitchen, a more broad, dynamic range of ideas and visions fermented and flourished. The end result and forthcoming album is "Build Anyway". Recorded in their home studio and mixed by CJ Eiriksson (U2, Live, Phish), the album chronicles the emotions that surface through the brokenness in abandonment to the search for peace and closure, both personally and musically.

Throughout her life, Renee Yohe has always believed in the value of telling her story. The platforms have changed from social media, to books, to public speaking engagements, and most recently, a film based on her life starring Kat Dennings and Chad Michael Murray (due in 2012). Renee first entered the public spotlight with To Write Love On Her Arms, a non-profit organization that aims to present hope for people struggling with addiction, depression, self-injury and thoughts of suicide. In December 2011, TWLOHA was awarded a $1 million grant from Chase at the first-ever American Giving Awards on NBC. By sharing her own personal struggles, Renee and the organization have helped millions. Through everything, music has always played a crucial and stabilizing role in Renee's life. Her favorite bands helped her through some of her darkest times. Later on, TWLOHA would find it's biggest initial support and exposure from bands who would wear the organization's t-shirts. When the opportunity came to form her own band, the transition just felt natural.

Renee's eclectic talents and triumphant experiences create a compellingly notable project with BEARCAT. With a new album, a spring tour and a film due out in 2012, this is set be their year.

"Bearcat, the solo project of Renee Yohe, is a sweeping tribute to soul-in all its respects. It's impossible to get even a few seconds into new song "Crazy Fishes" without noting it bursting through her vocals, mixing with a warmth and richness that simultaneously evokes jazz and sixties pop. Add in the twinkling synth, jazz piano lines, and steady drum beats, and you've got yourself one nostalgia trip that you'll so enjoy taking" - Purevolume

"BEARCAT's latest, "Silence Is Silver," speaks to tackling your issues head on instead of keeping them bottled up. In her gentle, strong voice-she reminds us a bit of She And Him's Zooey Deschanel with a touch of Fiona Apple thrown in" - MTV Buzzworthy

Andy Zipf (pronounced ZIFF) has stretched well beyond feverous guitar playing and dug deeper into his coined intimate falsetto voice on his third full length, Jealous Hands. With well over 400 shows played in a little over four years Zipf has held close to a play anywhere for anyone mentality performing at coffee shops, house shows, and the standard venues. Zipf chose out of necessity to go out into the no man's land of touring alone. He held no desire to move to a city cluttered with agents and label relations out of hopes of getting the big record deal. For the D.C. artist music is about the connection it brings and the bond it creates; and the only way to achieve that is to play for anyone at anyplace. From being a PurePick at Purevolume twice, to grabbing the attention of The Today Show, XM Satellite Radio, VH1 and MTV, to now having the song Stumble on the Line featured on the ABC show Private Practice. Zipf has shared the stage with artists like Cold War Kids, Jeremy Enigk, Badly Drawn Boy, Rosie Thomas and Dave Bazan. Each of Zipf ‘s seven releases have carried their own story on how they were made. For his 2009 sophomore album, The Long Tail, Zipf took to playing a series of fundraising concerts, house shows and investor parties, ending with $45,000 donated to produce The Long Tail, a passion stirring release that brought touches of soul to his ever evolving sound. Without a doubt the album's support proves that belief goes a lot father than a social website's play count.
