Alejandro Escovedo is one with his muse and music. Sometimes barely contained rage, the rock of punk amid kneeled feedback; others a whispery harmony riding the air. Feted, and joined on stage by legendary figures like Springsteen, the wiry Texan’s rise has been gradual, deepening and burnishing, making his music closer to the bone.
Starting as a country-punk in 70s ‘Frisco and relocating to Texas in the 80s to combine all manner of Americana music kick-starting a solo career with 1992 album Gravity, Alejandro’s philosophy is simple, “You just do your good work, and people care,” he says, “I always believed, when I was a kid, that if you just worked hard, you would find fulfilment.” Legend.
