Man that crowd at the Mayan was a gathering of the dumbest piece of garbage scum ever. Ended up stuck in "the pit" (when they're playing an almost acoustic set, really?) where drunk dudes were pushing each other HARD, bro-core style. If it wasn't that it was clapping out of sync and yelling over Patterns in the Ivy II. This show was MUCH better. I actually ended up all the way in the back in the Mezzanine, and I fucking rocked out. Ghost: the bigger venue made it look like a church. They really pulled it off, the shorter set meant we really got a best of. Still preferred the much more intimate Roxy but props to them. Mastodon: OMFG. I fell asleep at the Wiltern cause the sound was so bad (from where I was anyway) and I thought they were on an "off" night. Didn't feel a lot of passion from them. The Gibson show was something else. Killer performance, I think they stole the show from Opeth. Opeth: Really chilled out prog set, with a nice little finish. Set seemed too short though.

Agreed Serious, the crowd sucked. I suppose there's a reason Mikael hates LA. Seems like all bands I see in LA hate LA.

Opeth and Ghost were amazing! First time seeing Ghost, fifth time seeing Opeth! Was really stoked that they played a couple of their heavier songs, unlike when they played at the Mayan last year. Amazing setlist regardless. I think it was partly the venue's sound system and partly the sound tech, but Mastodon was really hard to make out.. The drummer and the singer(s) kinda washed out the guitar and bass most of the time... Not my first choice of venues around here, but it was a pretty good show, none-the-less!

That was last year not this year.... And that setlist was amazing, but the crowd at that show was HORRIFIC. They heckled Mike all night and were unbelievably rude and disrespectful throughout the entire show. It ruined the concert, luckily the crowd in Pomona 2 nights later was a million times better and that experience was wonderful.

I saw GNR here... blah... excited to see mastodon... saw opeth at the mayan earlier this year... they didn't play no heavy stuff... =(

@Danevati LOL. The Wiltern holds like 1800. The Gibson holds 6000+.

Gibson rules. I've always had great seats there and have never had any issues whatsoever. Such an amazing venue. The only negative thing is not being able to meet the bands after the show, but that doesn't affect the enjoyment of the show itself so it's not a big deal. So stoked for this show.
