描述

Beat The Radar have decided to invite a few of their favourite musical friends for a special show at The Castle Hotel in Manchester on Saturday 30th April 2011.

The Castle Hotel is a great venue for both punters and performers and is situated on Oldham Street in Manchesters Northern Quarter. We've been to, and also played at some awesome gigs there over the last 6 months. Plus they have some great ales - which is a bonus.

See their website for more information about the venue.
http://www.thecastlehotel.info/

Entry is £4 and the first act will probably start around 8.30pm.

Playing on the night will be:

Beat The Radar
(Akoustik Anarkhy)

BTR have been on a well-earned few months break from playing live while we have been recording our second album. Some would even call it a 'Return'...
...A man once told me it was rude to blow your own trumpet - but i'll do it anyways as we'll be blowing everyone else's...
Our album 'To The City, From The Sea' received reviews in the NME, The Big Issue, The Fly, got in teletexts 'top 50 albums of 2009' and even got a review in a Red-top: "Pucker Up Indie Rock here comes a kiss of life" 4/5 (The Daily Mirror).
Our singles have received radio play from BBC Radio1+2, 6music and our last single 'Animals' got on the National XFM playlist.

In May, Beat The Radar will be playing The Friends of Mine Festival, which has an incredible amount of amazing bands including The Charlatans, Buzzcocks, The Fall, Yuck, Badly Drawn Boy, The Phantom Band, The Lightning Seeds...plus many many more.

Uranium Lake
(Holiday Records)

Probably the band BTR have played with most, Uranium Lake write and perform the most incredibly crafted indie-pop songs you are ever likely to hear. Its great to have them on tonight's bill, and if you are a fan of bands such as The Smiths/Morrissey, Guided By Voices, James and R.E.M. then you'll love Uranium Lake.
U.S. band The Drums were so impressed they decided to release an EP of theirs on their own Holiday Records label.
You'll be seeing BTR down the front dancing and singing to this amazing band on the night. They seriously are one of my favourite bands of all time.

(Beat The Radar recommendations: Long Weekend, Afraid of Water, Act1 Scene2, Gather a Crowd......there's too many to mention)

Ste McCabe
(Cherryade)

Here at BTR HQ, we are MASSIVE fans of Ste McCabe. Armed with an electric guitar and a drum machine, Ste performs amazingly-catchy political pop-punk songs. His first two records Hate Mail and Murder Music were both incredible (in fact i'd go as far as saying the latter is an artistic/musical/lyrical masterpiece). Ste writes songs about sexuality, gender, religion, class, cars and cocks sizes...all important issues in our opinion.
A Beat The Radar/Ste McCabe gig has been well overdue. Its an absolute honour to have Ste playing the night. You will all love him like we do.

(Beat The Radar recommendations: Huyton Scum, Four Puffs..., I've Got a Big Car, Toilet Scrubbing)

Luz Da Lua

Travelling ALL the way from Edinburgh are Luz Da Lua. Singer Sarah has a very beautiful voice and she writes amazing piano & violin-led songs.
Sarah used to write and sing in a band called 'Lovers of The Arctic Circle' who i totally adored - but thats all in the past, because Laz Da Lua will be just as good.
I hope Manchester will give them a lovely welcome.

(Beat The Radar recommendation: Moonlight, )

Stephen Hudson
(Barnbox)

Last (well, first), but in no means least is our favourite Lancastrian Stephen Hudson.
In Ste's songs Lo-Fi, Indie-Folk has never sounded so good. He has a truly great knack for song writing and his incredible songs are all backed by a sincere voice. Think Neutral Milk Hotel / Badly Drawn Boy / Pavement / Hefner
His last single Tallulah? released on Lancasters Barnbox label received radio support from Lammo on BBC Radio2.

(Beat The Radar recommendation: Tallulah?),

And, thanks to my wonderful friend Grant who made the very funny poster for the night.
