    Sun 13 May – Do Make Say Think

    I initially thought that £15 seemed a bit steep to see one band play for 2 hours. I saw DMST in Seattle in 2002 for something like $8 or $9 US, so paying the equivalent of $30 5 years later seemed financially akin to going to a Justin Timberlake show. Or somebody equally 'huge'.

    However, I now realise the deep error in my judgement. This was easily the best show I've seen since moving to London, and probably in my top 10 of all time. Such an amazing group of musicians playing songs that I would go so far as to label 'transcendent' and I don't even BELIEVE in transcendence, folks. Plus there's the added bonus that they're really nice people. No dickhead rockstar vibe, just lots of smiles and genuinely kind words.

    I wish there were more current bands making music as intricate, complex, beautiful, and FUN as Do Make Say Think. I certainly haven't heard any British equivalent – for instance, other 'post-rockish' bands such as Mogwai are great but not really on the same level. Open to suggestions if anybody has any...
